Despite criticism from some quarters that it is overly influenced by Western films at the expense of true Vietnamese values, the new movie Nhung Co Gai Chan Dai (Long Leg Girls) is drawing record crowds to cinemas in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Obviously aimed squarely at the MTV generation, it was filmed by Trinh Hoan, who made the hit film Dat Phuong Nam (Southern Land) but is just as well known for his television ads and music videos. It was written and directed by 29-year-old Ngoc Dang, and features a rock music...
